I was previously a Washington Mutual Platinum card holder.  I was "brought in" to Chase after they had purchased WAMU.  I had gotten into the habit of paying my balance in full every month under Chase.  I was sent a notice late 2010, explaining to me that my interest rate was going from ~15% to 27.24%.  When I challeneged corporate on this drastic increase, I was told that my account was not profitable, and this was the reason for my increase.  I was given the option to close my account and keep my APR, or keep my account open and accept the obscene new APR.  Let this be a lesson for floating your balance and paying it off before it accrues interest.  In fairness, corporate later on offered me a 12.9% APR on my exisiting balance for a period of 12 months.  I ended up doing a balance transfer to a 21/mo 0%APR card before my 12 months were up.

I have 3 credit cards with Chase out of my 8 total credit accounts.  Chase offers lots of perks for opening accounts (hence my having 3) but does a poor job of taking care of customers, in fact the tend to screw over they customers with fees and high interest whenever possible.  The cards I have are the Chase Flex Rewards, Chase Amazon.com rewards, and Chase Freedom.  Among all my credit accounts Chase has the worst interest rates with the Chase Amazon.com at over 21% purchase APR!  I requested it lowered given my credit score above 750, perfect credit history, and on the basis that every non Chase account I have has an APR below 14%; I was refused for a APR reduction.  The other problem with Chase is all of the rewards programs they offer are below par.  You have to reach certain points values before you can cash in and you can only cash in specific amounts of points at a time.  I intend to close my Chase Amazon.com account as soon as I can cash out some rewards.

Now that Wamu has been absorbed by Chase, my credit limit has been unjustly lowered due to an inaccuracy on my credit report. I continually maintained a 30% credit balance to credit limit ratio and had my credit limit lowered because, according to the letter I received, I was issued more credit than I needed. I guess being a responsible credit consumer means VERY LITTLE to this creditor.

I have the Marriott Rewards and I love it. We get free hotel rooms just for using a credit card! Sorry to hear about those who have a balance and don't like Chase, PAY IT OFF MONTHLY! IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY IT OFF DO NOT CHARGE. That is how they make money.

I don't have any problems with Chase. When Sapphire came out, they automatically upgrade my account and raised my credit limit to $20,000. With that said, I have  a credit score of almost 800 and make over $100K per year.

Horrible. I opened my account with 10K check from my another account at a credit union, so I know my money was there!!! Chase did not process until one week later and froze my account after they cashed my check. I called and they told me that they could not verify the check, but at the same time, I knew from my CU that they've already cashed the check... Later, they also froze my debt card when the card was on the way shipping to me... WTF? Costed me 3 weeks dealing with them on the phone and local branch. And finally, someone through 800 number told me that the person who dealt with my account was new, but that should not be my fault and how come they would allow any thing like this happened? Currently, they changed to charge monthly membership fee without any prior notification. Horrible!!!!

Former WaMu customer here, too. When Chase took over, they jacked my interest rate to 32.99%! I called to ask why, pointing out that I was never late and always paid substantially more than the minimum. Their reply? "Sorry, we really can't help you." Repeated calls, same story. Two months from now it will be paid off. I will use it as a charge card (avoiding any interest) until the annual fee comes due then I'm going to close it. They're not getting another nickel out of me.

I was on a payment plan with them to pay off my balance at 6% interest with payments of 245. Then one month I get there bill abd it was for 504 and 12 percent interest even though I had made all my payments on time.

I had a Chase card many years ago which screwed me royally (their fault not mine) so i was determined to never use them again. I had a WAMU card and they treated me better than any other credit card ever. Then Chase bought them out and my rates in 1 month went from 9% to 23% with no warning whatsoever. They then claimed that I was suddenly late on payments and they refused to fix it. Then they started charging me late and Over the Limit fees of $150 a month. Chase may say they pay your rewards but trust me they don't not for all the false fees they charge you wrongly. If you don't think this is so just go ahead and get a card through them and see how long it takes for them to screw up your credit. You do not take faithful customers with good credit and payment history and charge them outrageous fees and treat them like Chase treats it's customers. WAMU did a horrible thing by selling out to Chase. they will forever be one of the worst credit card issuers ever.
