Well i have had fingerhut for almost a year. i started out with a 400.00 credit limit...made a 40.00 purchase than my credit limit went up to 700.00...i pay everyweek on this..make purchases..small ones nothing big..promo codes work good also..thats my suggestion basically u pay out of ur butt for shipping so use the PROMO CODES...10.00 off 25.00 or more purchase. so needless to say now it is two mths later after my last 300.00 increase...and my credit limit is now 1100:) so thats 700.00 increase in about 6 mths or so...not bad..also they do report to the companies..and do put your credit limit on there as well so all that say they dont are wrong. my only suggestion is again...do not buy anything over 100 bucks unless u r going to pay it off quick..

I got credit through fingerhut years ago and I'll confirm that if you don't buy anything from them you won't get an increase in your credit. All in all it's a good account, regulary reports which is all I need. It did eventually report for me even without buying anything at first. I actually forgot I even applied for this card until it showed up on my credit report as an active revolving account, what a great supprise!

I got this card about 6 months ago and never used it. I believe my score was around a 545. It did report the $400 credit limit to all three credit breaus. I haven't had a credit limit increase, probably because I haven't bought anything from them. I would say it's a good card to get reporting for you if you don't have perfect credit. Looking at their site, some stuff is overpriced but not everything, there is some stuff that's listed at the same price on amazon. Also if you are worried about the comments about stuff falling apart, they do have lots of name brand stuff on their site. Name brand companies aren't likely to let you down since they have a reputation to uphold. I'm buying a humidifier today, hopefully this will give me the payment history they want to finally give me a credit limit increase. I guess I should have bought something sooner.

ALL products are WAY overpriced. I've asked to CLOSE this account, and no response!!!!!!!

I have had a Fingerhut card for several years. I was going to use it to make a purchase online and when I got to the end it would not accept my Fingerhut credit card number. Called the 800 number and sales person took my order and then told me I have no account with them and would have to apply. Funny because I was holding the card. I told him to cancel the order and have never tried to deal with them since. To this day the account shows on any of my credit reports with a zero balance.

I have had a fingerhut account for 6 months. I only made one purchase so far and it went smoothly. Paying was a bit of a headache cause I wanted to pay off the next day after the purchase. With no invoice in my account i had to call customer service, but the rep that took my payment waved their fee. Reason I gave 4 stars is because they report to Equifax and Transunion only. With all that said if you don't mind paying alittle more for merchandise and you need a company to give you a shot for credit it is worth a try. When I applied my credit score was 550 and I got a $300 CL

FingurHut is very good about giving increases if you use the card and pay it on time.. I started out at $300 and am now at $1200.. They also issue temporary increases that give you a certain amount of time to charge during the temp period..The total amount you spend is added to your credit line before the temp increase.. The only problem with fingerhut is there products are overpriced. So if your credit limit is $500 and the temp increase is $500 that gives you a total credit line of $1000. Now if you spend say $200 during the temp increase time frame you add the $200 to your pre increase credit limit of $500 giving you a new credit limit of $700,hope that makes sense.

Good card for people building credit, but it has high interest.

Applied for this card several times and was denied with 585. Once I hit 600 I was instantly approved. Original limit was $350. 3 months later $550. 3 months later (today) I find out with was increased to $1050. I never asked for a increase and just paid $349 to pay the card off. Really impressed with the increase this time and I'm sure it will help my score even more. Credit score now 657.

Be careful! I too, was impressed with all of the increases I was getting, until they just decreased my line by $600. It HAS to be because I "don't use it enough" . It's certainly not because I've been late on a payment with them (never have) or me being any less credit worthy (my score has been going up). The last time I used it was December 2010, but I used it HEAVILY for Christmas gifts. I'm carrying a balance of a couple hundred dollars, so it's not like they aren't making any money off of me! They're only screwing themselves by doing this--- wanna see how fast I'll pay off my balance and never use the card again...Go ahead and close it, I really don't care! :D
