I applied for this card with a CK score of 705 and FICO TU of 682 and gave me 7-10 message. Called credit center in Utah (btw I love discover cs because they tell you exactly which call center you call) and the lady asked me more information and told me I would be receiving a letter in 7-10 days and I asked her if I had been denied, she said no, that it still needed more processing time. So i guess she felt pity for me and went ahead and asked if I was employed and verified my income (25K) and length of employment. She put me on hold for about 2 minutes came back and said I had been denied for the Student More Card because I'm currently a student at a 2-year college. She then said she could approve me for a regular Discover More card. I said yes ofcourse! My first real discover card! She gave me a limit of 1500 and asked me if that was enough, I said ok because I was excited. I had applied for discover before a year ago. This was a lucky approval because in Texas they mostly pull EQ and I had lots of inquiries. I had about 2 on TU. My oldest account was opened about 2 years ago.

I would not get a Discover card no matter what. They are very rarely accepted at places and their policies suck.

Discover is absoulutely the best credit network on this planet. Both my parents have had a discover card since 1985, and my brother since early 2000's. They have all loved the card. I'll be honest, I nearly gave up on getting one. It is most definitely not the easiest card to get... I must have spent 5 hard credit inquires in trying to get it. I finally was approved with a CK score of roughly 745 and a limit of $1,500. The cash back program is the best. The customer service is 100% American and you will always be transfered to someone within the US. The online banking tools are great! I have an American Express card as well, and Discover completely wins. I absoutely love this card. Discover is the best.

I was 18 and I had no credit history and applied for a credit card with AMEX and my bank. Both denied me because I had no credit history. I applied with Discover and they gave the Discover Student card with $500 limit. I'm now at $3750 credit limit and a CK score of 769. I pay all my bills on time, every time. Whenever I request to increase my credit limit they happily increase it. No promblems with them and customer service is great. I believe in loyality, so I only use my discover. Now my bank and Amex are sending me mail to apply for credit cards with them. It's not happening.

Got this card 4 years ago when I was 19, with no credit score (it was easier back then). They offer great cash back rewards and a very user friendly online site that helps break down your spending to get a clear view of how you are spending your money on the card. This is my favorite of 5 credit cards because the cash back is better than the points rewards on any of my other cards. My only complaint would be that they offer extra 5% cash back promotions in certain categories throughout the year but this has an amount cap and it is hard to dertermine whether you have reached that cap and dropped back down to the 1% cash back. They also have lots of fine print for the online shopping cash back offers. All in all, though, it's a great card with great rewards. I've been able to get credit limit increases every year and rate decreases when requested.

By the way, does anyone have experience with their CLI's? Or do they review your account every 6 months? Or something like that?
chris91 1 year ago
i hear discover can be pretty generous as giving you a cli in as little as 3 months otherwise i think they would look at your credit profile every 6 months
