Putting 1 star is putting it nicely...I had nothing but problems with CitiBank from the start, I opened the account as I got an auto loan through them and thought it would be easier to have all the banking in 1 location...boy was I wrong. A 10 day hold on a unemployment check from the state, 4 times in a row, common sense would tell ANYONE that if a person is on unemployment probably needs the funds prior to that! I could possibly understand if I had ever bounced a check or if the account was overdrawn or something, but no reason behind it. Then they put an accidental hold on the account, which the phone reps couldn't help with, was told to go into a branch, which I did and since it wasn't the branch I opened it in it took 48 hours to take off the hold...the great thing is that I opened the account online so it was a little hard to "visit that branch". I have since cancelled the checking and savings with them and couldn't be happier that I never have to deal with them any longer.

I have been a customer for almost years, I switched from Chase because Chase kept making mistakes. Citi is ok as the big banks go, they have all of the services and pay about the same lousy rates on deposits. I like the thank you points, I can earn about $25 a year for keeping my account there. They got some bad press recently about increasing their fees or minimum balances, but this was not very well explanined. You can still get FREE checking if you make one direct deposit and pay 2 bills online,so I just changed my acccount. They have fallen behind in # of offices in the NYC area, hopefully they will get back on track some day.

Been a customer for 5 years and lately has been nothing but issues. They jacked up my rates because I missed a Veiron bill and it was marked on my credit report.

You are running a high risk if you keep a balance on any revolving line with Citi, especially over the long haul. APR jacks and balance chasing are not uncommon. Citi looks at each customer as a profit center. Loyalty is not rewarded at Citi. Why reward that with your business?

I have been their perfect customer for about 10 yrs. I took one of their checks for a 2% credit only to find out there was some confusion over my original balance and ended up paying 21% for the bulk of the amount. I called several times trying to straighten it out only to get a confused 18 yr old on the phone that wouldn't do anything. Stay away.
